米国国務省『韓国旅行ではレイプのリスク』
先ずは韓国では、ホテルであろうが、観光地であろうが、街中であろうが、常に警戒の姿勢を崩さぬこと。
更に、 婉曲な表現ではあるが、女性に対しては、韓国への一人旅行はするなと命じている。過去、幾人かの米国女性がレイプ（強姦）されており、常に、レイプのリスクがあるからである。
反して、私の大阪の知人の更なる友人の韓流ファンの日本女性は、今でも一人で、或は二人で、幾度もソウルの夜の街を謳歌しているというから、何の目的でソウルに行くのか、その女性の遺伝子を疑わざるをえない。

犯罪：大半の観光客にとって韓国は非常に安全な国です。
米国に比べて、韓国の犯罪発生率は低い。
最も一般的な犯罪（スリ、および財布奪取、ホテルの部屋、或は宿泊ハウスに侵入する窃盗）は、主な大都市圏、観光地、および混んでいる店舗でより頻繁に発生しています。
米国であなたが取るのと同じ常識的な安全対策を取って犯罪の犠牲者になる可能性を減らしなさい。
韓国での課題は、夜に一人でうろつく場合は混んでいる演芸場、歓楽街、および商業地区で警戒をしなさい。グループでうろつくことを検討しなさい。
（注）韓国の夜はどこでも危ないということ。
移動で使える乗り物は、合法タクシーまたは公共交通網だけです。

あなたが韓国を旅行する時には、あなたが韓国で宿泊するハウス、ホテル、または会社のまわりのどのような異常な動きにでも用心深いままでいてください。
そしてどのような意味ありげの出来事でも地元の警察に報告しなさい。

ソウルの米国大使館では、性的暴力とレイプ（強姦）の犠牲となった幾人かの米国女性の被害届を受理しています。
女性の旅行者にとって、女性の一人旅は再検討すべきです。
これらの商品を購入することが韓国の法律に違反しており、並びにそれらを米国に持ちこむことは米国の法律に違反します。

CRIME: For most visitors, the Republic of Korea remains a very safe country. Compared to the United States, the crime rate in the Republic of Korea is low. The most common crimes (pick-pocketing, purse snatching, and thefts from hotel rooms or homes) occur more frequently in major metropolitan areas, tourist areas, and crowded markets.
Reduce the likelihood of becoming a crime victim by taking the same common-sense security precautions you would take in the United States. Use caution in crowded entertainment, nightlife, and shopping districts throughout Korea. Exercise caution when traveling alone at night; consider traveling in groups. Only use legitimate taxis or public transportation. When you travel, stay alert to any unusual activity around your home, hotel, or business, and report any significant incidents to the local police. U.S. Embassy Seoul has received several reports of U.S. citizens who have been victims of sexual assault and rape. Women traveling alone should review ourtravel tips for Women Travelers. Don't buy counterfeit and pirated goods, even if they are widely available. It is against Korean law to purchase these goods and against U.S. law to bring them into the United States.
